4th of July

Blogging is so addictive.

Jamie and I took all 5 kids to Coralville for the 4th of July. We spent Monday night at my sister Susan and her husband Tim's house in North Liberty. Then got up early and went to Tim's parents house. They live on the parade route so we are guaranteed a good seat and good food after the parade. Before the parade we left the boys with Tim's parents and went to a pancake breakfast across the street. The girls LOVE pancakes! While waiting for the parade to start, Jamie drew a target in the street right in front of the girls with sidewalk chalk. Then I wrote in big letters "CANDY" with an arrow pointing to the target. As the floats went by (there were over 150 of them), Lucy would chant "Hit-the-tar-get, Hit-the-tar-get". Needless to say she came home with more candy than she gets on a good "Trick-or-Treat" night. After the parade we came home and Jamie walked Lucy and Grace downtown to watch fireworks while I stayed home with the boys. Looking forward to next year when we can all go together.
